LASER is an acronym, which stand for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.
Low Level Laster Therapy (3LT) is the use of low intensity light energy as a treatment modality. Light (photonic) stimuli excite the body’s cells infusing them with energy, with the three primary reactions being: (1) Reduction of inflammation (2) Cell regeneration and (3) Increased blood flow. The potential applications of 3LT are almost limitless; however, 3LT has been proven to be extremely effective with musculoskeletal conditions like neck, shoulder and low back pain, patella tendonitis, Achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, bone healing, and acute and chronic soft tissue injuries. Low Level Laster Therapy is a noninvasive, very safe, fast and effective modality that has been proven in clinical trials to reduce pain, reduce edema and promote healing.
When deep penetrating photonic energy (low level laser therapy) is focused on specific cellular (soft) tissue, increases amounts of Adenosine Tri-Phosphate (ATP) are produced as a result. ATP is the substance responsible for cellular energy production. Soft tissue is muscles, ligaments, joint capsules, vertebral discs and intra-articular surfaces.
Increase ATP in soft tissue jumpstarts a series of profound healing effects:
- Increased cellular function
- Improved circulation
- Reduced inflammation
- Improved transport of nutrients across the cell membrane
- Increased circulation
- Influx of water, oxygen and nutrients to the damaged area
- Reduced swelling, muscle spasms, stiffness and pain
