Update on what is going on at Sport and Spine Rehab post Hurricane Sandy

It has been an interesting week to say the least for all of us on the East Coast. Those of you who have friends or family closer to the coast and especially in New Jersey and New York our thoughts are with you.? Though we may not have experienced the weather that was predicted, like most others in the area we opted to close our operations down in an effort to ensure the safety of our patients and staff.? Those decisions made by many across our whole area surely helped to reduce further complications and injury associated with the storm.

Sport and Spine Rehab post Hurricane Sandy

Sport and Spine Rehab of Rockville and McLean both experienced water damage from the storm and are still the process repairing the damage, though we are open for treatment. Sport and Spine Rehab of Landover experienced some post storm power issues on Wednesday and Thursday but seems to be back to normal now.

We appreciate everyone?s patience as these problems are corrected.

Please note, in an effort to make sure that all patients have access to care this week we have modified our schedule to include a full day today (Friday, November 2) and all locations except Fort Washington will have hours in the morning on Saturday November 3rd.

National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week

If you have been following our Facebook page you know that November 12-16 is National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Sport and Spine Rehab is partnering with Back on My Feet ? a nonprofit organization that promotes the self-sufficiency of those experiencing homelessness by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem.

Thousands of people across the country will wear sneakers to work that week including all of us here at SSR, so that ?more individuals experiencing homelessness will be able to move their lives forward using Back on Feet?s earned financial aid, employment and housing resources.

SSR?s goal is to raise a minimum of $100 but we are well on our way to exceed that amount. We are encouraging all SSR team members to donate $5, or $10 to the organization and to wear sneakers or jeans the week of November 12-16. Donations will support local programs and national infrastructure and expansion.? In addition Dr. Jay has committed to matching our donation amount!

Sport and Spine Rehab of McLean?s? ?5th Annual Halloween ?Name the Model Spine? Contest

Thanks to all who participated in Sport and Spine Rehab of McLean?s 5th Annual Halloween ?Name the Model Spine? Contest!!!! For one week before Halloween they ask patients and staff to come up with their funniest, most creative names for our model spine. This year?s finalists included the likes of Mitt Rom-knee, and Barack O-Back-ma.? But the winner was Count Back-ula.

Move For Hunger

Congratulations to our partner Move For Hunger, who hit 4,500 Facebook Fans last week. Please support MFH by helping them win $25,000 from Martha Stewart. ?Just go to ?www.crowdrise.com/moveforhunger before November 27th to make a donation and help them win.

So that is what is going on at Sport and Spine Rehab, as always thanks for your support and friendship.
