All Sport and Spine Rehab locations will be collecting toys this year in support of the Toys for Tots campaign.
About Toys for Tots
In 1947, Bill Hendricks’ wife Diane?crafted a homemade doll and asked her husband to deliver the doll to an organization, which would distribute it to?underprivileged?children. However, upon further investigation, Bill found that no such organization existed. So Bill took it upon himself to start such an agency, Toys for Tots!
Later in 1947, Bill,?USCR, and a group of Marine Reservists collected and distributed 5,000 toys to?underprivileged?children. And because of the success of the program, the Marines adopted Toys for Tots the following year and have conducted successful nationwide campaigns at Christmas each year since.
Since 1947, the Marines have distributed more than 452 million toys to more than 209 million needy children.
?Bring the joy of Christmas to America?s needy children.?
In 1995, the Secretary of Defense approved Toys for Tots as an official activity of the U. S. Marine Corps and an official mission of the Marine Corps Reserve.
