Mind Over Matter | Control Your Pain

Don’t Worry, Be Happy 🙂

Pain is frustrating. Staying motivated to get better is tough when you’re in pain all the time, but it’s important to know that there are alternatives to surgery and painkillers.

Both physical and mental rehab therapy is proven to decrease the need for drugs. Chiropractic care and physical therapy are evidence-based treatments that are safe and effective for pain management. When paired with relaxation techniques, such as meditation, the odds of using painkillers is reduced.

Here are 3 ways to manage your pain safely!
1. Keep doing you

Studies show that you are happier when you continue your daily activities. When active adults stop their normal exercise routine, they often experience symptoms of depression. Depression and pain are not a good combo; negative thoughts fuel pain. Cue the vicious cycle:The more depressed you are, the more you feel pain. The worse you feel, the more depressed you are.

Keep moving! Even if you are unable to do your daily activities to the fullest, focus on what you CAN do and start there. Every little bit helps.

2. Exercise your mind

A healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body. Since pain is both mental and physical, recognizing the power of the mind and its ability to shape how you perceive pain can directly impact how you feel. In fact, guided meditation and relaxation reduce?the need for painkillers. By improving the mind-body connection, you can regain control of your condition.

3.Be thankful

Positivity! Research shows that being mindful of the good things in your life improves your well-being. Come up with 3 things you are grateful for each day and?focus on that. We always have something to be thankful for!
