When you’re involved in a car accident…

First check to make sure everyone involved is alright. Call the police, report the accident, take pictures for documentation, and exchange insurance information with the other driver. Once all of that is taken care of, you’ll want to seek medical attention right away. Here’s why…[/vc_column_text][divider line_type=”No Line”][divider line_type=”Full Width Line” line_thickness=”1″ divider_color=”default”][divider line_type=”No Line”][vc_column_text]I’ve been dealing with car accident victims for 33 years and have been a victim myself as well. It is very common to feel little or no pain the day of the accident. However, the next day when you wake up you realize you can’t move and then decide to seek medical care.

Seeking medical attention after a car accident is important for two reasons:
  1. You are in pain and need to be evaluated to make certain you know the extent of your injuries.
  2. If you want to hire an attorney or possibly file a law suit, you’ll need the medical documentation.

When you decide to pursue a legal claim it is expected that the injured person is medically evaluated. The sooner the evaluation, the stronger the case. This can be done at an emergency room, walk in clinic, primary care physician, or chiropractic or physical therapy clinic. The important thing is that it is done in a timely manner and that it is documented.

So, after the medical doctor advises you of the extent of your injuries and sends you on your way with a prescription for medication, what’s next?

You could stay at home take your medication and watch re-runs, but if you really want the pain to stop, medication isn’t the entire answer. Any injury to the body must be addressed by rehabilitative therapy! Medication may help ease the pain but only rehabilitative therapy will correct the muscular dysfunction responsible for the pain and hasten your recovery.

Find a good chiropractic clinic that combines chiropractic with physical therapy and utilizes a thorough exercise rehabilitation plan. An experienced doctor of chiropractic will evaluate not only the areas that hurt but also determine the physical motions that are not working properly and address those as well.

So don’t just rely on those meds, restore your health so that you can Work Better, Play Harder!
