Why you should relax and recharge?

Finding ways to destress on the holidays can help you go into the new year refreshed. By taking the time to recharge you’ll be ready to tackle your goals in the new year! Extra activities like holiday parties, get-togethers, and holiday meals, can make it hard to find extra time to relax. For some, your schedule might even be busier than usual. However, the one thing you do not want to do is go into the new year burnt out.

Going into the new year already burnt out and overstimulated, can make it hard to jump back into work. It can also cause stress on your body. This can lead to feeling tired, sluggish and mentally exhausted. Another important reason to not burn yourself out is it can weaken your immune system.

All the extra parties and get togethers are fun and a great time to see friends and family. However, they can also bring on extra germs and illnesses. You want to make sure that you are 100% healthy attending these events. Catching something will slow you down. By making time to rest and recharge during the holidays, you can make sure your body is well rested. This will help to fight off any germs it might come into contact with!

So let’s find out the best ways for how to destress this holiday season…

Stretch

A great way to relax your body is to incorporate 5-10 minutes of deep stretching each day. Stretching is a great way to bring blood and oxygen into the muscles with can help the relax and repair. If you’ve been doing any type of exercise, physical activity, sitting in the car for prolonged periods of time, or standing at a party, stretching is a great way to help your muscles loosen up which can help our whole body to relax.

You can stretch any time of day. We always find stretching before bed is extremely helpful in helping you get a good night’s sleep. Good, quality sleep is also very important for helping you relax and recharged. Try this awesome bedtime stretches routine before you go to sleep. We bet you’ll wake up feeling refreshed and recharged!

Reduce Screen Time

Another great way to relax and recharge during the holidays is to try to limit screen time. Work can demand a lot of screen time during the week and year. Try to take the opportunity to put your phone down for a few day. It can be a huge help!

Some of our favorite things to do in place of screen time is going for a walk through nature (weather permitting of course), reading a good book by the fire place, working on a puzzle with a nice warm cup of hot chocolate, and playing board or card games with friend and family!

Plan ahead

The holidays and time off can be a great time to take a break from your busy schedule. You might not have as many daily tasks and responsibilities. However, if you know you have additional holiday obligations, try to plan ahead for cooking, traveling and get together this time. This way you’ll be able to see the periods of times and days you’ll be busy so that you can strategically plan some down time during the times you don’t have anything else.

Also, by planning ahead (especially when it comes to cooking/hosting/get-togethers) it can help reduce the stress on the day-of. Take a look at what you need to prepare and try to break it into smaller segments if possible!

Eat a Balanced Diet

One of the best ways to relax and recharge during the holidays is to make sure you are eating a balanced diet. This can include fun holiday treats with good-for-you, nutritious foods that will keep your body feel its best. Again, the busyness and stress of holiday events can be tough on your immune system. Make sure you’re eating lots of nutritious foods with vitamins and minerals that your body needs to fight off any unwanted germs.

Plus, by eating and maintaining a balanced diet you won’t feel sluggish and tired going into the new year.

Take a Deep Breathe

Breathe work can have an incredible impact on helping your body relax. No matter where you are, whether you’re at home, traveling, a fun party, or volunteering with your neighborhood friends, you can always stop and take a minute to take a big, deep breathe. This can help your mind and body relax so that you can be fully present and enjoy what you’re doing!
