10 Progressions for One-Leg or Pistol Squat

Below are the progression standards for each exercise. What that means is, you cannot begin working on jackknife squats, until you are able to complete 3 sets of 50 shoulder stand squats. You must be able to do 3 sets of 40 jackknife squats before you can work on supported squats and so on. These progressions can take a long time, do not rush, do them correctly and your ability to move to the more advanced steps will be smooth. ? Dr. William Jones

Shoulderstand Squats: 3 sets of 50

Jackknife Squats: 3 sets of 40

Supported Squats: 3 sets of 30

Half Squats: 2 sets of 50

Full Squats: 2 sets of 30

Close Squats: 2 sets of 20

Uneven Squats: 2 sets of 20

? One-Leg Squats: 2 sets of 20

Assisted One-Leg Squats: 2 sets of 20
