Does a person's health insurance or car insurance pick up medical injury costs?

  • Yes if we are in network with someone’s health insurance it is possible that we will be able to bill them and the patient will be responsible for their copay; however, if they are seeking a lawsuit their health insurance will be expected to be paid back at settlement.
  • Car insurance will cover medical injury costs under a benefit called PIP or personal injury protection.  This is a benefit on someone’s car insurance that will cover medical costs regardless of who is at fault.  We strongly suggest filing a PIP claim with the patient’s own car insurance to get as much of the medical treatment paid for upfront.

What can a new auto-injury patient expect in service at treatment at Kaizo; from online booking to first visit to patient retention and care during the recovery process?

  • The 1st thing a new auto injury patient can expect is to be schedule in 1-2 business days from time of calling/booking online.
  • We will then verify all of the provided information to verify coverage and any out of pocket costs.
  • If they have an attorney, we will make contact to introduce ourselves and set them up on our online medical records portal.
  • From there they will be sent a confirmation e-mail with time of appointment and information to fill out their paperwork to ensure a smooth process when they arrive for their appointment.  This e-mail will also provide instructions on how to download the Kaizo Health app.  The app is crucial in ensuring they are getting the most of their treatment.  The app will be their hub for earning rewards, doing home exercises and so much more.
  • When they come for their appointment, they will get a full comprehensive exam of all their injuries and will receive a recommended treatment plan from the doctor.
  • If they do not have an attorney, at their first visit we will provide some recommendations from our trusted network of attorneys.
  • Throughout their care they can expect regularly scheduled follow-up visits with us to assess their progress.
  • If they have an attorney, the doctor will keep their attorney up to date on their progress as well.
  • Once our in-office recovery program is complete, the patient will receive instructions on how to continue maintenance care at home through the Kaizo Health app and more.
  • If they have an attorney, we will ensure their attorney has all of their medical records and will hold their bills until  a settlement is reached.
  • We also help maintain the records for insurance purposes and can help with billing as well.

What do these costs typically run if someone isn't insured?

If someone is not insured costs can range from $200-$400 per visit

What does the recovery time look like at Kaizo Health?

Recovery time ranges and is dependent on many different factors such as the degree of injury, whether the patient comes to car consistently and much more.  But we would say the average is about 3 months of consistent care.  If patients consistently miss appointments that can make the treatment plan longer.

Are there some local car or health insurance agencies you would recommend for best coverage? Or coverage minimums for best care in case of a car accident?

We do not specifically recommend car insurance carriers or policies; we would just recommend to get more PIP if possible, the minimum for Maryland is $2500, but a full treatment plan can range anywhere from $4,000-$8,000, so we would suggest looking into getting more than the state minimum PIP coverage.
